Kimberley man due in court─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 10:12 Sat, 27 Jun 2020
A 60-year-old Kimberley man is expected to appear before the Local Magistrate’s Court on Monday in connection with the sexual abuse of his stepdaughter.
Provincial police spokesperson, Mohale Ramatseba, says the 60-year-old man was arrested on Thursday for allegedly raping his seven-year-old stepdaughter.
Ramatseba says according to information received, the man had been abusing his stepdaughter since the beginning of the year.
He says two men, aged 29 and 30, who are related to the girl were also arrested by members of the Kimberley Family Violence Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit for also allegedly raping her.
Ramatseba says medical reports indicate the girl has been infected with a sexually transmitted disease, and is receiving medical attention.
He says she is in a place of safety and investigations continue.
Ramatseba further called on community members in the Northern Cape to report any cases of sexual abuse to the nearest police station.
This as the incident comes just days after reports about a 72-year-old blind woman who was reportedly raped by a 32-year-old man in Kathu.
The 32-year-old has since been remanded in custody until August 7.
