The hostel learner, from Pietermaritzburg in KwaZulu-Natal, had tested positive for the Coronavirus on June 10 and was subsequently placed under quarantine.

Makgoe took to Twitter to confirm learners who had been in close contact with the 18-year-old Grade 12 learner all tested negative.

OFM News previously reported that classes at the Bloemfontein based school have since continued as normal after the learner and his family were placed under quarantine.

The education department’s spokesperson, Howard Ndaba, congratulated the school on how they have handled the matter and said the department has also done everything in its power to ensure all Covid-19 protocols were followed at the school.
