No arrest yet after murder of NW teacher | News Article

No arrests have been made so far following the murder of a 25-year-old North West teacher who was found dead at her home.

Police spokesperson, Sabata Mokgwabone, says despite this the investigation into the murder of Khumontle Mokgosi is currently underway.

Mokgosi’s lifeless body was allegedly found with her hands and feet tied up and it is suspected that she was strangled to death at a residential place in Magong Village near Mogwase, close to Sun City. Mokgwabone says her discovery followed after the neighbours and members of the School Governing Body (SGB) conducted a search after the young teacher failed to report for duty on Monday.

Meanwhile, the Education MEC in the province, Mmaphefo Matsemela, has described the murder of the Life Science teacher as heart-breaking.

Her death has also prompted the reaction from the Provincial Police Commissioner Sello Kwena, who expressed his shock about the alleged killing of Mokgosi. Kwena says it is disturbing that the life of such a young teacher was brought to an abrupt end by merciless criminal/s amid calls by all sectors of society that gender-based violence must cease. He has vowed that police in the province will ensure that perpetrators are brought to book.

The police has further requested anyone who may have information about the incident to contact the Investigating Officer, Sergeant Justice Ramosoeu, on 083-616-0995. Anonymous tip-offs can be communicated via the MySAPS App or by calling the Crime Stop number: 08600-10111.

The murder of the 25-year-old teacher comes at a time when gruesome murders of young women grip the country with shock. Amongst other murders are the recent death of Central University of Technology (CUT) first-year student, Dimakatso Mokoena, who was shot dead in a car in Bloemfontein in the Free State.

MEC Matsemela has further described the death of North-West University graduate as an unfortunate incident which occurred at a time when the country is grappling with the chains of gender-based violence.

The MEC is also expected to visit the family of the deceased in Makgobistad Village on Thursday 2 July.
