#CoronavirusFS: 42 CUT students in self-isolation─── MARVIN NTSANE 14:31 Fri, 03 Jul 2020
At least 42 students and two assistant residence managers at the Central University of Technology at the Welkom campus are in self-isolation.
This comes after a student at this campus tested positive for Covid-19 on Thursday.
The university says the department of health's protocols, which includes tracing those who might have been in contact with the affected student, were done. The CUT also says that all the affected buildings have been disinfected on this campus.
The university’s vice chancellor, Henk de Jager, says this incident is not only traumatic for the students but also the university community. He also wished the affected student a speedy recovery.
De Jager says the university followed the department of health’s protocols which includes the tracing of those who might have been in contact with the affected student. He says that all the affected buildings have been disinfected on this campus.
OFM News also previously reported that a staff member from this university's Bloemfontein campus was tested positive for covid 19 late last month. De Jager says the affected staff member was discharged from the hospital this morning and he is recovering at home.
