A 46-year-old man is expected to appear in the Kimberley Magistrate’s Court in the Northern Cape for copper cable theft.
According to provincial police spokesperson, Dimakatso Mooi, the suspect was arrested yesterday and is expected to appear in court on Monday.
Mooi further explained that the Francis Baard Cluster Task Team followed up on information about a man selling copper cables at a local metal scrapyard in Kimberley.
She added that upon arrival at the scrapyard, the suspect was found in possession of 1 074 kilograms of copper cable worth approximately R100 000.
The copper cable was confiscated and the suspect was arrested on the scene.
