The Northern Cape Department of Education says as the province expects at least 62 000 learners to return to school next week, learners' attendance will differ.

This comes after the Council of Education Ministers (CEM) announced the decision to allow the phased return of the Grade R, 7 and 11 learners to school on Monday.

The departmental spokesperson, Geoffrey van der Merwe, says schools in the province are going to operate according to various models which the department offered.

He says these models include weekly rotational attendance and alternation of weekdays, among others.

Van der Merwe adds that some schools have opted to implement different methods for different grades.

He says, however, these models will not be applicable to the grade 7 and 12 learners as they will be required to attend daily.
