Boyfriend of slain officer found dead─── LUCKY NKUYANE 16:42 Mon, 06 Jul 2020
The body of a 40-year-old man, believed to be the boyfriend of a slain North West police officer, has been found hanging from a tree in Orkney.
Police spokesperson, Sabata Mokgwabone, says the body of Sando Khandile was found on Saturday.
The deceased is said to be the boyfriend of Sergeant Mamoitoyi Bouwer, whose body was found with multiple injuries at her place of residence in Kanana. Since her death, police in that area launched a manhunt for suspects, adding an open investigation was also launched.
Khandile was the last person to be seen with Bouwer before her colleagues went to search for her after she failed to report for duty.
Mokgwabone confirms that the slain police officer's vehicle was found abandoned in the vicinity of a mall in Klerksdorp.
Bouwer is the third police member in the province who has been murdered this year. OFM News in March reported that a female police officer was killed in Mahikeng following a botched heist.
In February, Free State police officer, Lloyd Poonyane was shot dead in Orkney outside Klerksdorp after following up on a complaint in the Vierfontien area.
