Opposition weighs in on #FSBudget─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 11:53 Tue, 07 Jul 2020
Poor financial management in Free State departments, a lack of job creation in the province, collapsed municipalities and their lack of service delivery are a few of the pressing issues Finance MEC Gadija Brown needs to address on Tuesday afternoon.
According to the EFF’s Mahlomola Majake and DA’s David van Vuuren, Brown urgently needs to table a budget that speaks to the needs of the residents.
Speaking to OFM News ahead of the much-anticipated speech, Majake says Brown will have to outline how she plans to deal with these issues and how the different departments are going to work together to respond to challenges flagged by the Auditor-General in his latest report.
Van Vuuren adds that in addition to Covid-19 interventions, they are expecting Brown to highlight how the two biggest departments – Health and Education – are going to be assisted as the province battles against the spread of the pandemic.
The provincial budget is expected to be tabled virtually at 14:30 in accordance with Covid-19 regulations.
