Premier Zamani Saul and his provincial Covid-19 command council, including all MECs, will today be expected to address, explain and reflect on the positives and negatives of these measures.

Saul and his team will hold a virtual media briefing on the status of Covid-19 in the province and also provide an update on the progress in the education sector since the return of other grades to schools.

Covid-19 has so far killed 6 people in the province and also infected 12 teachers and 6 school pupils.

MEC for Education, Mack Jack, on Sunday announced that one of the infected teachers has since passed away due to Covid-19.

Jack also confirmed that 13 schools in the province were affected by the spread of the virus. Saul's province has the lowest death toll and infection rate in the entire country.

On Monday 40,596 pupils, including grade 11s and 6s went back to various schools in the province during the second phase of school reopening.

Today’s meeting will take place at the JW Sauer Building in Kimberley.
