NC Premier confident over #Covid19 interventions | News Article

The Northern Cape confirms a total of 23 teachers and 13 learners have tested positive for Covid-19.

Briefing the media on provincial coronavirus interventions, Premier Zamani Saul, says the majority of those infected are in the Pixley ka Seme District and Frances Baard District.

Provincial Education MEC, Mack Jack, confirmed as of the beginning of the week the total number of schools affected was 25. The schools are currently being disinfected. He assured members of the public that his department is ready to resume teaching. Whilst they are pleased with interventions at schools, Saul highlighted that they are concerned about towns neighbouring provinces such as the Eastern Cape and the possibility of high transmissions.

He, however, told members of the media they are confident about safety measures implemented in the province and would like to urge communities to abide to all Covid-19 regulations and those who cannot self-quarantine to make use of government’s quarantine sites. Saul alluded that they are concerned about the economic effects of the pandemic, but are working on post Covid-19 economic plans, which they will soon announce.
