Spokesperson Qondile Khedama says the official tested positive on Thursday and the stations will be closed until further notice for decontamination. He says the Fire and Rescue Service official suffered a heart attack whilst on duty, and it was later confirmed that the official tested positive for Covid-19, leading to the immediate closure of the station.

"Emergency responses will take place from the Ehrlich Park Fire Station, until the station resumes with operations. The contact number to report emergencies is 051-409-9600," said Khedama.

Khedama says the city will continue monitoring the situation at all its work places and ensuring the safety of all employees during these trying times.

He further appeals to all residents to take precautionary measures and adhere to all Covid-19 regulations.
