Slain NW officer to be laid to rest─── LUCKY NKUYANE 09:13 Sat, 11 Jul 2020
A North West police officer will be laid to rest today in Kanana near Orkney outside Klerksdorp.
The 41-year-old Sergeant Martha Mamoitoyi Bouwer's body was found in a pool of blood with multiple injuries at her place of residence last week.
She was found by colleagues after failing to report for duty.
Bouwer was last seen with 40-year-old Sando Khandile, said to be her boyfriend, who has since committed suicide.
Police spokesperson in the province, Sabata Mokgwabone, previously told OFM News that Bouwer's murder is still under investigation to determine who is responsible for her murder.
Bouwer's vehicle, which went missing after her murder, was found abandoned in the vicinity of a mall in Klerksdorp.
OFM News in March reported that a female police officer was killed in Mahikeng following a botched heist.
In February, Free State police officer, Lloyd Poonyane, was shot dead in Orkney outside Klerksdorp after following up on a complaint in the Vierfontien area.
On Friday the community of Kanana held a memorial service in Bouwer's honour.
