More than 800 new coronavirus (Covid-19) cases have been confirmed in North West, as infections in the province continue to surge.
According to the National Institute of Communicable Diseases (NICD), the province in the last 24 hours recorded 806 positive cases.
Active cases have also soared to 6,952 from 6,260 previously reported.
MEC for Health, Madoda Sambatha, this week issued residents with a serious warning following the sharp increase in the number of positive cases and deaths.
Sambatha warned them to abide by Covid-19 regulations by keeping social distancing, wearing masks, sanitising and avoiding unnecessary travel.
He once again reiterated that the province’s Covid-19 cases are largely located within mining communities.
He further announced that MECs for Social Development, Agriculture and Rural Development, Finance and the Speaker of the Provincial Legislature will on Saturday publicly conduct Covid-19 tests.
