The four deaths take the death toll in that province to 11, up from 7 previously reported. On Thursday the department confirmed the death of a 64-year-old woman from Kareeberg Local Municipality, which includes Carnarvon, in the Pixley ka Seme District. 

This time three people over the age of 50 passed away in the Sol Plaatje Local Municipality, while a 79-year old from the Dikgatlong Local Municipality also passed away.

Meanwhile the province so far has 947 active cases, after 308 patients recovered from the virus, and 11 deaths were recorded from 1266 reported cases.

Two men aged 56-year-old, an 80 year-old-man and a 75-year-old woman from the Sol Plaatje Local Municipality, as well as a 79-year-old man from the Dikgatlong Local Municipality are among the latest to pass away due to Covid-19.

"The Minister also announced that the total number of people who have tested positive in the Northern Cape increased from 1168 to 1266," the department adds.
