The MEC for Health along with four other MECs in the North West are breathing a sigh of relief after they all tested negative for the Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19).

Meanwhile, the MEC for Health along with four other MECs in the North West are breathing a sigh of relief after they all tested negative for the Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19).

The five members of the Executive Council (Exco) were contacts of Premier Job Mokgoro and late MEC Gordon Kegakilwe. The five MECs include Madoda Sambatha, Social Development MEC Boitumelo Moiloa, Education MEC Wendy Matsemela, Finance MEC Motlalepula Rosho, and Agriculture and Rural Development MEC Desbo Mohono.

Premier Mokgoro's spokesperson, Vuyisile Ngesi, says this came as a relief to the (Exco) members who form the core of Covid-19 Provincial Command Council.

Ngesi says the MECs have been in quarantine since it emerged that Premier Mokgoro - who is their contact - tested positive.

Another MEC who tested positive for Covid-19 earlier in the province is Oagile Molapisi for Public Works and Roads.

Sambatha had earlier during the week encouraged fellow MECs to publicly test for Covid-19. He says although they tested negative they will continue to take precautions and implement preventative measures against the virus.

Mokgoro's support staff, who have worked with him closely in the last two weeks, were expected to undergo testing while taking the necessary precautions.
