NW suspects arrested for stealing diesel─── LUCKY NKUYANE 06:00 Mon, 13 Jul 2020
The Hawks in the North West arrested two suspects for the theft of diesel worth approximately R480 000.
Provincial Hawks spokesperson, Tlangelani Rikhotso, says two suspects, aged 27 and 34, were arrested on Saturday.
She says they were arrested during a multi-pronged operation for theft and tampering with essential infrastructure.
The suspects were allegedly caught while stealing diesel at an underground pipeline site in Rustenburg by extracting the diesel into a fuel tanker.
OFM News previously reported that three suspects in the Free State were arrested in April after they were found in possession of a truck, a trailer, a van and suspected stolen diesel with a combined value of R2.4 million.
Furthermore, Rikhotso says a third suspect managed to escape.
"The fuel tanker and other equipment used were seized for further investigation. Meanwhile, the suspects are going to make their first appearance before the Rustenburg Magistrate's Court on Monday," Rikhotso adds.
