NW house robbery suspects linked─── MARVIN NTSANE 10:47 Tue, 14 Jul 2020
Nine suspects are expected to appear in the Molopo Magistrate's Court in Mahikeng in the North West for house robberies, among other charges, on Tuesday.
The suspects, all aged between 33 and 46, are linked to three house robberies which were committed in the Gamothakga Village over the weekend. The police spokesperson, Sabata Mokgwabone, says one of the suspects was arrested on Sunday with a firearm and ammunition in his posession. He adds that the police search found five more firearms, cell phones, food stuff and a grinder at his place. The group will face charges of house robberies, illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
Mokgwabone says investigations revealed that three of the firearms were reported stolen in Elsburg, Randfontein, and Vanderbijlpark in Gauteng between 2003 and 2008. He adds that the other two firearms’ serial numbers were removed. He says the Provincial Commissioner, Sello Kwena, commends the police and the community for their cooperation which led to the arrest.
