Two students have been added to the tally of the Central University of Technology students who have tested positive for the coronavirus.
According to a statement released by the institution, both CUT Bloemfontein students became infected with the virus while studying from home. One student is currently at home self-isolating and the other is receiving medical care at the Universitas Hospital. The institution have extended its support to the students and their families and wishes them a speedy recovery.
‘’We wish the students a speedy, full recovery and encourage them to maintain a positive mentality. We understand the strain caused by Covid-19 on the CUT community and thus we encourage them to continue to empower themselves with true and verifiable information by regularly checking in with reputable news sources and our CUT Covid Information Hub’’, the statement from CUT Vice- Chancellor and Principal Prof Henk de Jager concluded.
The CUT have made it clear that protocols in trying to curb the spread of the virus are being followed continuously.
These new cases now means the CUT has a total of four positive Covid-19 cases. One student from the Welkom Campus tested positive early in July. That was a week after OFM News first reported that a staff member at this university's Bloemfontein Campus tested positive for Covid-19.
