The Provincial Department of Health also reports that 599 suspected Covid-19 patients are in isolation. This as the rate of Covid-19 infections in the province across all districts continue to increase. 

Two districts, including Bojanala Platinum which include Rustenburg, and Dr Kenneth Kaunda which include Matlosona, share a bulk of these infections. The department reports that Matlosana Local Municipality in Klerksdorp has 1927 and Rustenburg has 6055 from 11,225 confirmed cases.

So far the Dr KK district has the highest death rate, with 25  patients, and Bojanala with 16 reported deaths. The province in total has recorded 48 deaths after 12 more new deaths were confirmed in the last 24 hours by Health Minister, Zweli Mkhize. 

This comes as the rate of Covid-19 infections in the province in the last two days surged past 10,000 and is now nearing the 12,000 mark. According to the latest statistics by Mkhize, the province has 8,599 active cases after 2,578 patients recovered from the virus, with 48 deaths recorded from 11,225 reported cases. 

Previously, the MEC for Health in the province, Madoda Sambatha, reiterated that Covid-19 cases are largely located within the mining communities.

Bojanala has a total of 7,368 cases while Dr KK has 2,784 cases, and the two remaining districts - Ngaka Modiri Molema which includes Mahikeng, and Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati which includes Vryburg - share over a 1000 confirmed cases.
