Job Mokgoro's spokesperson, Vuyisile Ngesi, and three other officials who worked closely with the premier – who tested positive for Covid-19 - were urged to test after coming into contact with him.

This is now the second group of officials in the province to test negative after five MECs tested negative for the virus. Mokgoro, Saliva Molapisi, Virginia Tlhapi and the late Gordon Kegakilwe tested positive for during a peak in the rate of infection in the province.

Mokgoro has meanwhile urged his support staff to follow medical advice and adhere to protocols by remaining in quarantine for the full 14 days as recommended by health practitioners.

After testing positive for Covid-19 on 07 July 2020 and subsequently going into quarantine, Mokgoro issued a statement: “These staff members provide critical support to keep the private office of the Premier functional in these difficult times.”
