The duo will make their first appearance today after failing to appear before the Magistrate's Court in the North West on Monday. This follows after a confirmed coronavirus case at the Magistrate's Court which forced it to close for decontamination and cleaning while cases on the roll were postponed. The two men, aged 27 and 34, were then remanded into custody with their case postponed to 17 July for the first appearance. These two were arrested on Saturday after they were caught while stealing diesel at an underground pipeline site in Rustenburg.

The provincial Hawks spokesperson, Tlangelani Rikhotso, previously told OFM News that these two and a third suspect were extracting the diesel and pumping it into a fuel tanker.

Two suspects were immediately arrested after being caught in action while the third suspect managed to escape. "The fuel tanker and other equipment used were seized for further investigation," she added.
