#CoronavirusFS: More police stations close─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 08:47 Sun, 19 Jul 2020
Three more police stations have announced their closures due to coronavirus-related incidents.
The Smithfield- and Hobhouse Police Stations, as well as the Bayswater Police Station in Bloemfontein, have closed after members tested positive.
The provincial police spokesperson, Motantsi Makhele, says these police stations will remain shut until further notice for decontamination.
He says the Bayswater community service centre will operate from the Detective offices across the police station; the community service centre in Hobhouse will temporarily operate from the Community Library in Dipelaneng; while the community service centre in Smithfield will operate from the FCS Unit offices situated at 16 Murray Street next to the police station.
Makhele says South African Police Service (SAPS) members will be subjected to Covid-19 related protocols and urges members of these communities to also take all necessary precautions to protect themselves.
Meanwhile, the community in Selosesha is informed that the police station is now fully operational following closure due to a Covid-19 positive case.
Police spokesperson, Thandi Mbambo, says members of the public can now access services at the station and that “the building has been decontaminated and affected members have been subjected to necessary Covid-19 related protocols under strict guidelines of the Department of Health.”
