Accused officer fails to appear in court─── LUCKY NKUYANE 07:10 Fri, 31 Jul 2020
Free State police officer Noxolo Job, who stands accused of bribery, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, and theft, failed to appear in the Bloemfontein Magistrate's Court this week.
NPA spokesperson, Phaladi Shuping, confirmed to OFM News that the accused - who was granted R5000 bail - failed to appear due to coronavirus inter-provincial travelling regulations.
He says Job is currently at her parental home in Kimberley in the Northern Cape.
Because of the rules in place that forbid inter-provincial travel, she could not appear at the said court on Tuesday.
Shuping says the prosecutor has made an arrangement with the police to fetch her so that she can appear for the arrangement of a trial date.
Job was arrested on 8 October 2019 after a joint operation by the Hawks and crime intelligence. This, after she was allegedly paid R30 000 for her efforts, which on receipt led to her downfall and several stolen firearms being seized - including her service pistol, vehicle and cell phone.
The Hawks' provincial spokesperson, Lynda Steyn, previously told OFM News that an operation was activated where the accused met up with "robbers" and handed them her state firearm to commit a robbery.
“A while later the two ‘criminals’ emerged with the alleged loot - two R5 rifles with two magazines and 96 rounds of ammunition, as well as four 9mm pistols with 11 magazines and 165 rounds of ammunition,” she further said.
