#CoronavirusNW death toll increases with 28─── LUCKY NKUYANE 09:13 Tue, 04 Aug 2020
The coronavirus fatalities in the North West have now surpassed the 100-mark. This after 28 more patients have died from Covid-19 related complications in the last 24-hour cycle.
The rate of Covid-19 infections in the province also surpassed the 20 000 mark. Previously 81 deaths were reported in the province while a number of 19 961 people were confirmed positive. According to the latest statistics released on 3 August by Health Minister, Zweli Mkhize, the North West now has 11,168 active cases after 8,872 patients recovered from the virus, and 109 deaths were recorded from the 20,149 reported cases.
Mkhize announced on Tuesday night that these latest 28 deaths are part of 173 more who were confirmed dead in the last 24 hours across South Africa. The deaths of these 173 Covid-19 patients bring the total number of deaths in the country to 8 539.
