Arrest made after murder of NW girl-child | News Article

A 31-year-old suspect has been remanded in custody, linked to the death of a seven-year-old girl in North West.

The body of the young Mulweli Nyambeni was discovered in a building that is currently under construction in Photsaneng village outside Rustenburg.

She was found in the late afternoon of 30 July by local children staying in the village, who immediately alerted their parents. Police spokesperson in the province, Sabata Mokgwabane, says that there is no relationship between the accused and the victim - other than that they live in the same neighbourhood.

Mokgwabane adds police are awaiting post-mortem results to establish the exact cause of her death.

The accused will appear in the Rustenburg Magistrates’ Court on 11 August for a formal bail hearing.

The North West Provincial Commissioner, Sello Kwena, has condemned the incident and pointed out that the police will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that justice is served.
