Kgomotso King reunited with baby Bokang

Baby King - who was abducted at a clinic in Bloemfontein - is safe.

A 38-year-old woman has been arrested after the two-month-old Bokang King - who was kidnapped last Saturday - was found on Tuesday.

Free State Police spokesperson, Motantsi Makhele, says the alleged kidnapper of baby King was busted at a house in Phase 6 in the city. The woman allegedly abducted young Bokang on Saturday at the Bloemspruit Clinic, after her mother, 18-year-old Kgomotso King, was told that babies were not allowed inside the clinic.

The arrested woman offered to hold Bokang while the young mother fetched her medication. The woman then vanished with the baby.

The suspect is expected to appear in the Bloemfontein Magistrate's Court on Thursday, 6 August 2020, on charges of abduction.

It is alleged that the suspect was initially pregnant but lost the baby. Makhele explains that after losing her baby she was scared to inform her husband, who apparently works out of town. The suspect is said to have contemplated a plan to adopt a baby but was told that the process would take some time.

"On that fateful day, she went to the clinic for her appointment. That's where she saw the 18-year-old mother and her baby and befriended her. After the mother was told that she can't enter the clinic with the baby, she (suspect) offered to hold the baby for her, then disappeared with the child.”

Baby King was referred to a local hospital for a check-up and was then reunited with her mother.
