Medical facilities remain a worry: PSA─── LEATILE LEIEE 07:11 Thu, 06 Aug 2020
Government officials union, the Public Servants Association (PSA) is accusing the FS government of not adhering to proper safety regulations.
PSA spokesperson Lynsie Pelser says the situation at health facilities is worrying, and continues to a danger to workers. Pelser says that the maternity ward at Pelonomi recorded 90% of its employees to have tested positive, with no screening reportedly being done since.
Spokesperson for FS Health, Mondli Mvambi, however tells OFM News that a decontamination process took place last week.
OFM previously reported on a strike, where parties later reached consensus over alleged non-adherence to health regulations at a Bloemfontein hospital.
Pelser expressed her discomfort over the conditions of other medical facilities in the province, such as the Botshabelo EMS, and claimed that 30 employees tested positive.
This amounts to almost the entire force. She concluded that employees remain in danger due to the conditions at these facilities.
Mvambi responded to the allegations made by Pelser and says that only 5 members at Botshabelo EMS tested positive for the virus.
