#CoronavirusFS: More police stations affected─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 09:39 Sat, 08 Aug 2020
Free State communities being served by the Navalsig and Tweespruit police stations are advised the police stations will be temporarily closed for decontamination after some if its members tested positive for Covid-19.
Police provincial spokesperson, Motantsi Makhele, in a statement confirms the Navalsig Community Service Centre will now operate from the detective offices situated in Hilton just at the back of the police station, while the Tweespruit Community Service Centre will now operate from Thaba Phatsoa. He says communities will be informed once the police stations are fully operation.
The statement by Makhele comes just days after OFM News reported on the Mangaung, Bronville, Kopanong and Virginia police stations that have recently been closed following confirmed Covid-19 positive cases.
During his last media briefing at the beginning of the month, Police Minister Bheki Cele said 113 police officers countywide had succumbed to the coronavirus while over 12 000 members of the South African Police Service had been infected since March.
He urged communities to abide by the law as the police are still mandated to uphold it and serve the country despite the threat of the virus and being in the frontline.
