#CoronavirusFS: Three more police stations close─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 07:00 Mon, 10 Aug 2020
The Hoopstad, Viljoenskroon, and Edenburg Police Stations in the Free State have been closed due to positive coronavirus (Covid-19) cases.
Police provincial spokesperson, Motantsi Makhele, says these police stations will be temporarily closed for decontamination after some of its members tested positive for Covid-19.
OFM News earlier reported that the Navalsig and Tweespruit police stations also had to close their doors due to the virus.
Makhele confirmed that the Navalsig Community Service Centre will meanwhile operate from the detective offices situated in Hilton just at the back of the police station, while the Tweespruit Community Service Centre will now operate from Thaba Phatsoa.
“Hoopstad Community Service Centre (CSC) will operate from the Town Hall. Viljoenskroon CSC will operate from the VEP office behind the police station. The Edenburg CSC will operate from VFR situated behind the police station," said Makhele.
He, in a statement, said the police in the Free State apologises for the inconvenience caused, adding communities will be informed once these police stations are fully operational.
Police Minister, Bheki Cele, has meanwhile in his latest media briefing confirmed 113 police officers countywide had succumbed to the coronavirus while over 12 000 members of the South African Police Service had been infected since March.
