The 47-year-old Joseph Mathe on Tuesday appeared in the Mmabatho Magistrate's Court for legal representation following his arrest last week.

The Hawks provincial spokesperson, Tlangelani Rikhotso, explains that Mathe's case was postponed to August 19 for a formal bail hearing in the same court.

Mathe is one of 8 suspects who were busted in connection with the murder of Thato Makhoana, whose body was found alongside a road in Mahikeng with gunshot wounds after he went missing.

Rikhotso previously confirmed that Mathe's alleged accomplices will appear in the same court today to face a charge of hijacking, robbery with aggravating circumstances and murder.

Rikhotso said that during their arrest, Makhoana's 9 mm service pistol, ammunition and handcuffs were confiscated.
