A 38-year-old police officer accused of raping his 16-year-old relative in Kanana near Orkney outside Klerksdorp in North West will remain behind bars for now.
The officer appeared in the Klerskdorp Magistrate's Court yesterday, and his case was postponed to August 27 for a formal bail application.
The officer, who was stationed in Kanana, was arrested on Tuesday night.
Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) spokesperson, Ndileka Cola, previously confirmed to OFM News that a case of rape against the 38-year-old Constable is being investigated.
The incident is alleged to have occurred on Monday night and the matter was reported the next day.
