The suspect is believed to have committed car hijackings around Mmakau, Klipgat, and Akasia in Gauteng between August 2019 and June 2020.

When police received tip-offs of the suspect’s whereabouts, he was found in Winterveldt in Brits on 11 August 2020, in possession of an unlicensed firearm, ammunition, a stolen cellphone and a vehicle that had been linked to a car hijacking in Akasia last month.

Police spokesperson, Sabata Mokgwabone, says that the suspect is one of the possibly more suspects that the police are drawing close to capturing.

The suspect appeared at the Brits Magistrate's Court on Thursday, with NPA spokesperson Lumka Mahanjana saying the case was remanded to 28 August 2020 so that he can get a legal aid attorney.
