Three people die in shack fire at Welkom─── LEATILE LEIEE 12:03 Fri, 21 Aug 2020
A shack fire has claimed the lives of three people in Thabong, Welkom, early Friday morning.
Neighbours heard people screaming at about 01:20, according to police spokesperson, Motantsi Makhele.
The neighbours then discovered the burning shack and attempted to put out the fire, and after failing to do so, called firefighters.
Makhele says the bodies of a 20-year-old female, 4-year-old girl, and 1-year-old girl were found after they burned to death. The police are still investigating the cause of the fire and the victims' names cannot be made public before all family members have been notified.
