This, as a total number of 123 coronavirus patients were confirmed to have died of complications related to the virus.

The death of these patients now brings the death toll in the province to 690 after 567 was previously recorded.

Provincial Health spokesperson, Mondli Mvambi, previously explained to OFM News that the cause of death of these patients was probed rigorously to first establish the type of Covid-19 related complication. This means that not all 123 Covid-19 patients died in the last 24-hour cycle.

Health Minister, Zweli Mkhize, on Saturday night announced that 238 people across South Africa have died due to coronavirus related complications in the last 24-hour cycle. This number includes the latest provincial statistics and brings the total number of deaths recorded in the country to 13 981.  

Mkhize, during his announcement, said that the Free State has 13 420 active cases after 20 047 patients recovered from the virus, with 690 deaths recorded from 37 157 cumulative cases.

The country's total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases is 622 551 and the total number of recoveries is 536 694.
