The five suspects accused of the kidnapping and triple murder of three Brand family members in Hartswater in the Northern Cape have been denied bail.
The group’s trail continued in the Local Magistrate's Court on Thursday.
They were arrested on 28 July after the police discovered first the body of the 50-year-old daughter, Elzabie Brand, in a field in Taung in North West. Shortly thereafter the bodies her 83-year-old father, Danie and 79-year-old mother, Breggie Brand were also found in a field in Takaneng Village near Taung. The provincial police spokesperson, Dimakatso Mooi, says the court has postponed the case to 29 October 2020.
OFM News previously reported the family was abducted on Sunday, 26 July, and two of their vehicles were also reported stolen. One of the vehicles was found by the police abandoned by the suspects at the Majaneng Village, in Taung, on 27 July.
The first three suspects, a forty-year-old woman Kgomotso Mpumlwana; Realeboga Manyedi (19) and Tshepaone Melato (19), were arrested after one of the vehicles belonging to the deceased was spotted by police in the area of Pudimoe in the Northern Cape, driven by the trio.
Meanwhile the two other suspects, Donald Seolesang (20) and Tshepo Visagie (36) were arrested later on that day.
