NC ANC alliance partners call for #Covid19 probe─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 11:26 Fri, 04 Sep 2020
ANC Tripartite Alliance partners in the Northern Cape are calling on the provincial government to deal with corruption.
Following media reports that millions of Covid-19 funds have been looted with those politically connected awarded Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) tenders, the ruling party's alliance partners are calling for consequence management measures against those implicated. The SACP’s Tshepo Mogorosi has expressed concern at how millions earmarked to curb the spread of the pandemic are seemingly used by some to enrich themselves. Following reports that premier Zamani Saul's adviser Norman Shushu’s wife has received a tender worth R13 million to supply the police with masks and that Saul had a hand in the matter, calls have been mounting for action to be taken against them.
OFM News previously reported that Saul has meanwhile distanced himself from any Covid-19 corruption cases stating that there is seemingly an attempt to taint his reputation.
In a statement, he said this is part of a resistance campaign directed at him, because of his fight against corruption and wrongdoing in the province. He maintains that he remains steadfast against corrupt activities and had nothing to do with the tenders.
Saul is amongst the many political heads, including those in Luthuli House, now accused of looting state funds and awarding PPE tenders to close friends and family.
