A window at the Clicks store in the West-End building in Klerksdorp in North West was smashed with a rock on Monday, amidst nationwide protests against the chain-store.
The provincial police spokesperson, Sabata Mokgwabone, confirms that a case of malicious damage to property has been opened, adding no suspects have been arrested and the police are investigating.
This comes amidst the EFF’s call for this pharmaceutical retailer to close its doors until Saturday after a racially insensitive advert was shown on the retailer’s website.
Meanwhile, the Free State police spokesperson, Motantsi Makhele confirms that no case relating to Click’s closure incidents has been reported in the province.
In the Northern Cape, police spokesperson, Mohale Ramatseba, also confirmed that no incidents were reported. He added that the police in the province are monitoring malls and shopping centres across the province.
