Bfn murder accused missed court appearance─── MARVIN NTSANE 14:03 Thu, 10 Sep 2020
The 42-year-old Jacobus Visser, who is accused of killing his parents and a sibling in Bloemfontein in the Free State, missed his second appearance in the Bloemfontein Magistrate's Court on Thursday.
The National Prosecution Authority's (NPA) provincial spokesperson, Phaladi Shuping, confirmed that Visser did not appear in court today because he is in isolation.
He says he is, however, unsure about the cause of his isolation. He said it could be that he has tested positive for Covid-19 or he is infected with Covid-19, or that he has been in contact with a positive Covid-19 person. He states that the case was postponed in his absence to 17 September 2020 and he will remain in custody. Visser made his first appearance in the same court earlier last week. The case was postponed for verification of information pertaining to his bail application.
Visser was arrested for the murder of his 68-year-old father, Johan, 65-year-old Mother, Maggariet, and 40-year-old brother, Lewis Visser, at their house in Raymond Mhlaba Street in Bloemfontein last week. Police spokesperson, Motantsi Makhele, confirmed that their bodies were found in their bedrooms with gunshot wounds to the heads. He further explained the revolver allegedly used in the shooting, was found placed on top of Maggariet's body.
