Highly sought CIT robbery suspect arrested─── MARVIN NTSANE 10:00 Sun, 13 Sep 2020
A most wanted cash-in-transit (CIT) heist suspect has been arrested and is expected to appear in the Rustenburg Magistrate's Court in the North West on Monday.
The 31-year-old suspect was arrested in Hillbrow in Johannesburg earlier this week.
The provincial Hawk’s spokesperson, Tlangelani Rikhotso, says the suspect was earlier circulated in the media as wanted after being allegedly linked to a cash-in-transit robbery that took place in Rustenburg in July last year.
She explains that a joint operation led by the provincial Hawks led to the arrest of the suspect and adds that more arrests cannot be ruled out.
Rikhotso says “the heavily armed suspects allegedly used two vehicles to force an armoured vehicle to a halt at the intersections of Fatima Bayat and Bosch Streets in Rustenburg. They then used explosives to blow open the safes of the armoured vehicle and made off with an undisclosed amount of money.”
