Police spokesperson, Dimakatso Mooi, says approximately 40 people embarked on protest action on the N14 just outside Kathu and blocked the road. She confirms no violence was reported and the group was dispersed. 

Whilst it remains unclear as to why the group is protesting, it is alleged to be EFF members embarking on the protest action.

Mooi confirms the road is now open and Public Order Police are keeping a close eye on the situation.
