Whilst the cause remains unclear, the Mangaung Fire Department spent several hours trying to contain the blaze during the evening.

At this stage it is also unclear what the extent of the damage is, or whether there were any injuries.

OFM News previously reported on a fire that broke out at the nearby dumping site, and how this caused an uproar from neighbouring communities.

The Mangaung Metro Municipality has, as a result, previously committed to work with the police to start patrolling the dumping site to ensure no criminal activities occur, following several complaints from residents.

Municipal spokesperson, Qondile Khedama, is yet to respond to OFM News’ set of questions following Monday night’s fire.
