Eskom's alleged FS land deal shrouded in confusion─── MARVIN NTSANE 16:54 Tue, 15 Sep 2020
The Matjhabeng Local Municipality - which includes Welkom in the Free State - is yet to confirm or deny the alleged agreement of handing over 139 farms to Eskom as means of security for debt owed by this municipality.
This follows a media statement issued by Eskom, stating that the agreement had been made by order of the High Court in the Free State on Tuesday.
The municipality’s spokesperson, Kgojane Matutle, says the municipality’s lawyers together with the municipality’s executive mayor, Nkosinjani Speelman, and the municipality’s management are currently in discussions following the statement.
