Spokesperson Dimakatso Mooi says a 16-year-old boy, who was taken in for questioning on Sunday after the beheaded body of an 18-year-old was found, is soon expected to appear before the Local Magistrate's Court.

OFM News earlier reported that the body was found in a water pipe outside town in the early hours of Sunday. His head was found hidden under a bed in a shanty - where the 16-year-old boy was arrested.

Mooi says it remains unclear what led to the brutal killing, and the police are appealing to anyone who might have information about this murder to come forward.

"The police request that anyone who may have information about this incident to please contact the Station Commander on 082 822 3077 or the Crime Stop line on 08600 10111. All information received will be treated as confidential," she said.

Investigations continue.
