Vaal students barred from protesting─── 06:50 Wed, 16 Sep 2020
The Gauteng High Court in Johannesburg has issued an interdict to some Sedibeng TVET college students, prohibiting them from participating in any student protest.
The students will return to court on October 10, to dispute this decision.
They were last month summoned to appear in the High Court and charged with vandalism after the college's vehicles and other properties were damaged during a student protest.
The protest was in reaction to an induction camp for the SRC.
Students claim the money allocated for the camp can be diverted to assist students blocked from accessing the National Student Financial Aid Scheme.
Speaking to OFM News from outside the Court, former SRC member Lehlohonolo Seabe says their challenge now is to find a legal representative.
