The 16-year-old boy, whose name cannot be released at this stage according to the police, has formally been charged for the murder of the 18-year-old Lucky Maxambele. The body of Maxambele was found in a water pipe outside the town in the early hours of Sunday 13 September, while the head was found hidden under a bed in a shanty, where the 16-year-old boy was arrested.

Police spokesperson, Dimakatso Mooi, says no other arrests have been made following the discovery of the decapitated body.

She says it remains unclear what led to the brutal killing, and the police are still appealing to anyone who might have information about this case to come forward.

"The police request that anyone who may have information about this incident, to please contact the Station Commander on 082 822 3077 or the Crime Stop Line on 08600 10111. All information received will be treated as confidential," said Mooi.
