Suspects due in court for human trafficking─── 08:30 Tue, 29 Sep 2020
Two suspects facing charges of human trafficking in Rustenburg in the North West are expected to appear in the Local Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.
This comes after they were arrested by the Hawks on Sunday after a group of girls were rescued from B&B's which were used as brothels.
Northern Cape Hawks spokesperson, Nomthandazo Mnisi, says three other suspects, Chikwuma Ibekwe (37), Emmanuel Okafor (28), and Ifeanhi Udechi (30) - who were also arrested by the Hawks on Sunday for human trafficking - appeared in the Kuruman Magistrate's Court on Monday and will remain in custody. She says they will appear in court again on 6 October.
OFM News previously reported the suspects, aged between 30 and 46, are all foreign nationals.
A total of 13 victims from South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and Lesotho were rescued from brothels in these two towns.
