The 38-year-old Mkwanazi was gunned down on his hospital bed over a week ago. It’s alleged four men entered Ward A2 at the public hospital and shot Mkwanazi in the head.

Whilst no arrests have been made, police spokesperson, Mashay Gamieldien, has confirmed a reward of R50 000 has been put forward for information that could lead to the arrests.

The motive for the shooting is still unknown.

The provincial health department is meanwhile also calling on members of the public who might have information about this incident to come forward.

The department says security system upgrades at the hospital are underway.
