#WorldTeachersDay: What does it mean to teach in 2020?─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 13:31 Mon, 05 Oct 2020
As the country today celebrates World Teacher’s Day for the first time under Covid-19 regulations, OFM News caught up with some of the teachers in the Free State.
Janah Posthumus, who is a Bloemfontein-based teacher with more than 15 years of work experience, says it is important to celebrate teachers as they are not always acknowledged for the work they do, or how they play a central role in shaping the lives of future leaders.
Posthumus paints a picture of how this year has particularly been challenging amidst the Covid-19 pandemic and how teachers’ efforts could go a long way with the support of parents and guardians.
Posthumus advises up-and-coming teachers that their love for children and education should take precedence when pursuing this career.
Meanwhile, the Free State MEC for Education, Tate Makgoe, has applauded teachers for their hard work and encouraged communities to celebrate them as they remain in the front line of the Coronavirus.
