Hundreds of people are flooding the streets of Senekal in the Free State in support of the family of the murdered 21-year-old farm manager, Brendin Horner, ahead of court proceedings expected to start soon.

The body of Horner, who was allegedly stabbed to death, was found tied to a pole on the De Rots Farm last week. He was represented by people of all walks of life in an attempt to stop the ever-increasing farm attacks in the country.

A farm owner, Theunis Pretorius, says these attacks are worrying and need deep intervention from the government. Pretorius compared the farm attacks to the infamous 9/11 and added that even his farmworkers are fearing for their lives.

“Our leaders allow these attacks to continue, in all communities - including the black community. We need to bring back law and order. We need to stop this financed chaos”.

The peaceful protesters demonstrated that farmers do not want to display anger but instead want to find a solution, according to farmers in attendance outside the Senekal Magistrate's Court.

One black farmer said that the government needs to propose adding police stations nearby farms. He added that the police response to farm attack puts lives in danger. He concluded that he does not know Brendin Horner personally but because he was a farmer that means they are family.
