This, as the Online Admission System will close at midnight on Friday. As of Tuesday, the department says it has processed over 52 000 online applications for admission to schools across the province.

OFM News previously reported that the departmental spokesperson, Geoffrey van der Merwe, stated that there are various factors that contribute to the outcome of an application. He stated that an application may be considered successful if the place of residence of the applicant is in the same suburb as the school applied to and if the applicant or learner has a parent or guardian working at the school applied to, amongst others.

The initial deadline for online admissions was 30 September, but the department extended the period to 9 October, to allow parents and guardians ample time to register learners.
